So I slammed this mix together real quick. One of those rapid fire, don’t think too hard about it mash ups that just worked. Except for the last track which I don’t think quite fits and I don’t really like that much. How did it even end up in my crate?

Anyway, other than that I’m really happy with the result. Fast and heavy with loads of energy – if your looking for a work out mix is a good one to load up on the MP3 player.

D&B has been changing of late and it seems everyone is getting excited about half-beat and bass style tracks that sit at the 160-170bpm mark. It’s giving the DJs more flexibility to try out some different sounds and it’s made the music a lot more exciting.

This mix has some liquid & D&B tracks in there, but there is also some Flume and Daft Punk thrown in for good measure as well as some half-beat style tracks thanks to Alix Perez and Etherwood. It’s D&B, but not as we know it and that can only be a good thing.

Been sleeping on uploading my Down Low Sessions side project for Phuture Frequency Radio, so this is a catch up for May, June and July. If you’re a Bass Music lover this lot will keep you rolling strong. Number 008 it is up on the PF Radio site right now. Sessions 005 has a good selection of deep Bass tracks going on and, while it is laid back, it packs enough punch to keep you nodding. Sessions 006 and 007 are more floor orientated with a good dose of Trap and Techno going on. Definitely good drive by themes if your planning on working the bass cones while creeping the streets in your jeep.

Back to the deep end with this mix with some old classics thrown in for good measure, like Rockwell’s smasher from last year ‘4U’ and a Sade meets Dillinja mix using LSB’s bootleg of ‘Ordinary Love’ and Capone’s bass terror classic ‘Tudor Rose’.

There’s lots of new stuff going on too with Seba’s new LP getting a rinsing on ‘What’s Your Fantasy’ and the mighty ‘Balance of Power’, plus load of new tracks from Om Unit and Furi Anga to name just a few.

I guess the biggest change on this mix is the equipment it was mixed on. Adding to Serato and my 1200s I now have a digital mixing set up that allows me to add a few extra tricks to the mixing arsenal. Tell me if you can hear the difference.

Third in the Down Low series and this time we hit the dance floor whilst still keeping things on the deeper tip. Kicking things off with Photek’s massive remix of Birdy’s ‘Shelter’ we go into a selection made for moving. Interesting to note there is a stack of D&B producers in here like Lemon D, Netsky, Sunchase & Nickbee, Logistics, Tali and Atlantic Connection all flexing their Bass Music muscles. This wasn’t done on purpose, but it seems these guys have a knack for producing exactly the sort of Bass Music that moves me.

There is so much lush D&B about at the moment that I had to throw together a set of melodic and liquid tunes. Fokuz Recordings and Influenza Media have been smashing out high quality liquid for many a year, but seem to recently have stepped up to a new level of melody magic as has S.P.Y, DJ Clart and Intelligent Manners. Not to be out done Bungle, with his sublime track Aura, has come up with one of the tunes of the year for me so far.

Lots of people deride liquid for being too generic over the last few years, but I think this selection shows that as a genre it still has a lot kick left in the bass bins.

Been absolutely ages since I’ve put up any news on here, let alone some free tracks, and I promise in the future I’ll try harder to seek out some good stuff for you guys. Like this compilation from The Melt! So basically I know nothing about this label or the artists other than it is wicked music well worth downloading, especially considering the asking price. I’ll leave it to the labels PR to do the talking…
