The record button has always been my best friend. As a kid I used to record voices just so I had a memory of what a particular person sounded like. Like taking a photo, it captures a point in time that is unique to that specific moment when you pressed the button.
Once I discovered you could record music there was no stopping me. Recording songs off the TV & radio turned into recording tapes and records. Recording tapes and records turned into making compilation tapes. Making compilation tapes turned into (with help of Technics 1200s) recording mixes.
The tapes, the CDs, the mini-discs have all come and gone, and MP3 is (for now) the format of choice. But, no matter what the format, there is and always will be the record button staring at me unblinkingly with it’s one red eye willing me to push it.
What you find here is the result of me giving in to the button.
