Deeper Shades – New Years Eve 2007

This was a mix I put together on New Years Eve back in 2007. A guy called ‘Awesomeness’ has been in touch and wanted it uploaded again because it ‘put him in a nice place’. I can’t really argue with that, so here it is.

If your anything like me you’ve probabley had one shandy too many last night and might not be up for listening to a Drill-Core set just now. So with that in mind I’ve mixed up a selection of deeper beats from 2006 to give your mind a massage and to help you ease your way in 2007.

There is loads of sweet tracks from labels like Fokuz, Spearhead, Signature, Horizons, Creative Source, Artic Music and many more. Plus I’ve thrown in the the odd track with a darker edge to keep things interesting.

Anyway, have a listen and chill into 2007. Hope it’s a good one.

Jungle Survival: Lesson 1 – Ear & Drum Session 2

I wasn’t mixing ragga jungle in 94, but we used to get sent these crazy mix tapes with the roughest sounding tracks. All angry and full of gunshot samples. The tracks mainly consisted of an Amen, a phat sub-bass and a yardie/rasta lyric. And to me and my mates it was the most exciting and hardcore sound in the world.

Finally I got to jam together all those tracks that I used to listen to back in the day and lay down a ragga jungle mix of my own. I’ve tried avoiding the really obvious tracks on this and sough out the more obscure artists. Although I haven’t neglected some of the massive classics from 1994 like Hitman (Dream Team Remix) and Sound Control.

Whether your are a hardcore ragga fan or you’re just jungle curioius this mix will sort you right out.

Where did the old mixes go?

I am pretty much starting my FTP again as far as the old mixes I have online are concerned.

If anyone is looking for previous sets sourced from other sites you can make a request through the blog’s ‘request line’ page and I will dig them out and upload them. My aim is to eventually get this blog to the stage where it can be a single stop shop for any of my mixes.

Sorry for any inconvenience this might cause in the short term.

Progressive Future Music – Ear & Drum Session 1

To say PFM is a legend in the field of atmospheric drum & bass is a chronic understatement. Although not huge in volumes of output, just about every track PFM has produced is golden and is so lushly crafted that they always take you on a journey. If I had to point to a single producer who sums up the Good Looking sound it would be them/him.

This mix goes to all those who have had a ‘moment’ on a dance floor some where at some time when a PFM track has smoothed it’s way into a mix and transported you to a better place.

That’s all the world needs. Another bloody blog.

Okay, so I always said I wouldn’t do a blog.

I’m not a massive extrovert, I don’t really think my opinion is that much more valid than the next mans and, lets face it, blogs are so 2006 they make my eyes hurt just thinking about them.

Luckily, with this blog, the best content is able to be taken in with your eyes shut. I might write the odd entry here and there, but mainly this is for my music. So if you like D&B and other beats of a broken nature, I am sure you’ll find something to your liking amongst my virtual pages.

If you don’t then I suggest you try a knitting forum, or something more pron related. Hope you like the blog.
