Stelf’s Birthday Mix

Been an absolute age since anyone has requested a mix from me, so big ups to Charade for asking for this mix I did back in 2003 for my good mate Stelf’s birthday. Stelf is a man of impeccable music taste so I rolled together this mix of mellow tunes and D&B smashers from back in the day. The first half is the chilled bit, the second half is Amen damage.

The best bit about this mix for me is it takes me back to my 16th century cottage I was living in when I was Brighton based, and all the good times I had there. In the photo is (from left to right) Stelf on the ones and twos, DJ Cob in the middle and a very rare shot of myself doing the tea and spliff smiley.

As you can tell from the set list it is larger than your mum’s undies.

  1. I had this mix (somehow) many years ago, not sure how I originally found it but it’s so good! Glad to find it again. Is there any chance of a lossless version or even a 320 mp3? 128 Kbps degrades the sound quite a lot and music this good deserves the best! 😉

Will check out your new mixes too, but I do really love the 90’s drum and bass sound so much.

    Cheers,
    Luke

  2. Hey Luke, I’ll have a look for you. I always tried to upload the highest bitrate available by the technology of the time. This is quite an old mix so it may actually have predated my access to 320 encoding. I would have recorded it as a AIFF which is lossless and then encoded it so I’ll see if I can find that version for you.

If you do like the older stuff then just click on ‘Old Skool’ in the categories list (on the right hand side of the site) and it should show you just the mixes on here that are 90s based tunes.

    Cheers for listening.

    Woz
