Drift towards centre with this collection of beautiful tunes and intricate beats. Much respect goes out to Metro and his new LP, Fugue State which is simply stunning as is the re-mastered T.Power classic The Self Evident Truth of an Intuitive Mind. Both get heavy rotation here along with Akuratyde’s Embrace EP.

This is the perfect mix to relax to while you enjoy the holiday break and finish out the year. Cheers to all those who have listened though out 2015 and here’s to more music in the year to come.

Welcome to the eighth edition in the Call the Ambience series. Like those that came before, this is a more relaxed and ambient take on the D&B sound. Not quite float tank material, but if you think D&B is all bang and clang this will get you guessing again about your preconceptions.

In terms of artists featured, I recognise only a handful of the producers in here which is always exciting. New talent means a healthy music scene and hopefully there is a bunch of fresh talent for you to discover.

The flow of the mix is quite anesthetic as we start of with some solid, but laid back, D&B beats that give way to chilled out trip-hop type stuff combined with pure ambient soundscapes. And finally we slowly come back to consciousnesses by shifting into some deep minimal D&B towards the end.

This is perfect Sunday listening, so kick back, turn it up and drift off.

Ah the 90s – electronic music’s golden era and definitely D&B’s original hey-day. Around ’96 D&B was everywhere and everyone wanted a piece, from movie soundtracks to TV advertising to mainstream music labels, they all wanted what D&B had. And what D&B had was some of the planet’s hottest production talent exploring electronic musics most diverse musical genre.

Photek was in his prime, dropping must have tune after must have tune. LTJ Bukem and his label, Good Looking, were killing it with an incredible artist roster including legends such as Blame and PFM. And Jonny L was on the verge of greatness and flexing some seriously beautiful music.

It was a gentler time, when D&B didn’t feel like it had to be dark or underground and it was an era I still love coming back to so I can lay down sets like this.

The Down Low: Sessions 25, 26 & 27

What’s that you say? It’s the weekend and you haven’t got anything to listen too.

Well here you go – three new Down Low Session chock full of new tunes and diverse styles to keep you going for at leat the next three hours.

Session 25 is a cracking chill-out house set for of good vibes and lush lyrics. I defy anyone not to sing along to Blood Groove & Kikis – Free Like A Bird. This set is just like that holiday in Ibiza where you can’t remember how you lost your knickers on the dance floor.

Session 26 rolls up all ghetto with dubstep, hip-hop and trap kicking out the jams. You definitely want to keep an ear out for Atlantic Connection – Go feat. Tunde Olaniran which is my track of the year so far. Impossibly impressive beats, bass and vocals.

Session 27 is one for the Techno and Tech House lovers and has a heavy deep and dark and Chicago influence to it. Highlights for me is the oh-so-tech inspired Neighbours by Madben & Yann, Sixteenth Pulse – Frames and Rainforest’s chill out classic Weather Swing.

Perfect for the weekend, this mix of the chilled out and laid back will make surfing the couch a dream. I’m not even sure if a lot of these tracks can be classified as D&B. But they all share a wonderful ambient style and certainly blend together beautifully.

Back to the golden era of Drum & Bass with this tidy selection from the god father of D&B labels Moving Shadow. This rolls and flows majestically through intelligent amen driven beats and bass from start to finish.

Omni Trio, JMJ & Ritchie, Flytronix, EZ Rollers, Hoax – all the big names are in here and so are some of their biggest tunes. Anyone who can remember far back enough to when The Rhode Tune, Sanctuary and Free La Funk first hit will remember they changed everything.

Bringing the ambient vibes back on this one. There are a few of the usual suspects in the form of ASC, Furi Anga & Synkro. But also a good crop of newer headz who are popping up regularly now with quality output such as Om Unit (killing it lately), Stray and Actraiser who has been pumping out awesome Bass Music tunes too. Been absolutely ages since I’ve put up any news on here, let alone some free tracks, and I promise in the future I’ll try harder to seek out some good stuff for you guys. Like this compilation from The Melt! So basically I know nothing about this label or the artists other than it is wicked music well worth downloading, especially considering the asking price. I’ll leave it to the labels PR to do the talking…

“Since our beginning, we’ve been consistently crossing paths with talented artists one way or another. Whether it was from them playing one of our shows, or us finding them on the web, we’ve found something we love about everyone on here.
